Hopkins takes a look at the some waiver-wire options who could help you win your league down the stretch.

Final month is upon us, rosters expand soon, so many tough choices coming on who you need to nab to win this year or who you should grab and stash for next year - let’s get it!

Gaby Sanchez (C, NYY) – Two-week tear of 22/45, 12 R, 5 2B, 9 HR, 15 RBI, 1 SB and a 8:8 K:BB ratio means he should be universally owned if he is not in your league (unless you have a better catcher option of course).

Trea Turner (3B/OF, WAS) – The rookie shortstop/outfielder is now hitting .341/.363/.532 with four homers and 22 RBIs on the season, and not only is he a nice chip for 2017, he also needs to be owned and started in all formats at this point. Great stretch-run pickup if you have room.

Anthony Desclafani (SP, CIN) – Descalfani is now 8-2 with a 2.96 ERA in 14 starts and has 84 strikeouts and 20 walks in 94 1/3 innings. He recently posted a four-hit complete game shutout with 9:1 K:BB. He is free in about 1/3 of leagues right now. Easy pickings, with the odd eye on his opponent.

Kelvin Herrera (RP, KC) – Herrera now owns a sharp 1.84 ERA and 73:8 K:BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings and has converted seven straight saves since a loss on August 9th. Universally owned, he should be.

Matt Shoemaker (SP, LAA) – We all know the kind of runs Shoemaker can go on, so a three-start string of three wins over 20 IP, with 15 SO and 3 BB, might be the sign to grab him if you need pitching help down the stretch to reel in that team ahead of you.

Alex Gordon (OF, KC) – After a brutally slow start to 2016, Gordon has finally hit his groove and there isn't a hotter hitter in the game right now it seems. Gordon, who has five home runs in his last five games, also has an 11-game hitting streak going and he's scored 13 runs and drive in eight during the streak. You could do way, way worse in an OF or UTIL pickup down the stretch, and he plays on a team who will play hard for that wild card spot that is only 2.0 games adrift right now.
