I am looking for help in identifying younger players that could be termed as sleepers. HAving a surprise or minimal impact in 09 but being strong contributers in 10-12. Players I can draft cheap in an auction and then keep that give a good point/dollar return. Winning my league doesn't come from having Reyes or Wright at $160, it comes from having Braun at $24 or Hamilton at $30. Players that have exploded. Matt Wieters wouldn't qualify in my scenario because even the casual fan is going to hear about his potential. Most of the other 9 owners in my leaguedon't pay that much attention to prospects, and would rather draft an established player. I would rather lock up Maybin for $23 that pay $120 for Beltran and use that cash on another position as an example.
Players that I thought might fit my theory would be Heyward, Cahill, Kaaihue, Neftali, B Anderson? Laporta is another one that will get too much hype to fall under the radar. Will any of the 08 draft class have a shot at opening with their team in 10? Hard to predict I know. Thoughts?

Jake McGee was a stud prospect coming into the year who now is having tommy john and will probably fall off the map a couple seasons. He is under the radar for sure. I still don't think Stanton or Jesus Montero get much attention despite their great seasons. Tabata and C. Marrero have also struggled with injury but could easily return to star potential.
I will try to skip over guys that have already made their debut like a Travis Snider. Most of these will be a little farther away.
Well here is a list of some down the road talent... C- J. Montero, Conger 1B- Marrero, L. Anderson, Mills 2B- Antonelli, Noonan SS- Moustakas (hype), Triunfel, Beckham (heavy hype) 3B- Gamel, Villalona, Vitter OF- Heyward, Stanton, Martinez, Jackson, Tabata, Burgess, E. Beltre P- Porcello (hype), Cahill, Anderson, Bumgarner, Davis, Feliz, Chacin, McGee, Tillman, Parker
A few names. Refer to the prospect list as well for some insight in comparison as that takes proximity to the majors balanced with talent and upside into account.

Thanks Status. I had most of those names as well, although some of those guys are pretty far off, but that is what I was looking for.

Yeah, I think a few of those guys have struggled with injury enough that they will come pretty cheap. Good luck.

I like the prospect list here because it factors proximity to the majors. Most other list I see are based strictly on potential, which is great, but since the max I can hang on to a guy is 4 years, knowing IOna is a great prospect doesn't help me much. In a dynasty the story is different. Any prospect not capable of making a big impact in at least 2010 is too far off for me. Our rosters are big enough that I could stash porcello knowing he won't hit the bigs in 09. Keep up the great work here!
