Everything I have read signals a bad trade, in terms of fantasy impact for Matt Holliday.. as an owner, I am a little concerned, but trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

Playing away from Coors is a big deal, but isn't Holliday a good enough hitter not to drop off too much?

Another part of the argument that espn or foxsports makes is that the Oakland lineup serves no protection for Holliday. This is true, but I'm willing to bet that Billy Beane is going to try and make a big splash in free agency, so I'm not buying into this theory until Beane says he's one spending.

Status, is there anything else im missing? is there hope for Holliday in green and gold?

It is just tough to see him doing as well considering his split stats. They are so drastically different away from Coors. In a good year like 2007, instead of having a 340 average and 35 homers he will now be more like .320 with 28 or so I'm thinking. And that is in a good year for him. Still very valuable, but not nearly as elite.

I don't even see him staying with the A's for long but we will see how they get out of the gates.

Holliday will be in some other uniform other than an A's by the trade deadline this year. His agent, Scott Boras, will make sure of that.

Either that or the A's abandon their current way of doing business and throw silly money around to bring in some serious talent(Furcal?) rather than trade it away and make a run at a ring.

Either way Holliday is not in Oakland at the start of 2010.

BTW He IS a much, much better hitter across the board playing half of his games at Coors field... .326 at home (62 HR, 75 doubles 219 RBI, 328 hits) vs. .296 away (33 HR, 58 doubles, 120 RBI, 257 hits) over past three years and .332 at home vs. .308 away last year.

Good news he went to the American League. Bad news the A's are dead last in the AL in average runs scored...

Still he is and will be a stud and he will not be in Oakland come July 31st.

I am trying to get him in every league that I am in because I am guessing after July he is pretty much untouchable again.

Besides losing Coors field, Holiday now has to hit in one of the worst hitter parks in the AL this side of Detroit. He also has no protection. Chavez is no longer that type of player with his injuries.

I have been hearing talks about how Oakland wants a shortstop and an outfield bat (Giambi?). I don't see logic in it. Beane has been quoted as saying he is definetly keeping Holliday for the entire year. He prefers the value of having him the entire year plus the compensation draft picks if Holliday goes free agent compared to a trade package. That tune might change in July.

His numbers just fall apart away from Coors. I am concerned for his owners. Still, depending on the anti-hype that builds, he may become a good buy by the time we reach fantasy season. He is no top-10 player though.
