DobberBaseball

Dobber Nation has expanded!

When it comes to fantasy hockey, nobody provides you with (free) daily tips and insight better than I do over on DobberHockey.com and the astounding success and popularity of that site has led to a lot of readers pleading for expansion into other fantasy sports.

Enter DobberBaseball.com.

I won’t pretend to know as much about baseball as I do about hockey. That would be insulting the fantasy baseball fanatic. No, I won’t do that. What I will do is use the same formula that made DobberHockey successful and put it into some very capable hands.

This is not something that my team and myself threw together in two weeks. This has been in the works for over a year and things have been moving quickly over the last several months. The main element was finding the right leader.

Let me preface this by mentioning that I have a fantastic graphics designer in Glen Hoos. I also have a pretty good template for fantasy success, including:

1) Daily ramblings. News, injuries and opinion in the fantasy world brought to you daily. Daily roto-news is presented on a lot of sites, but some things slip through the cracks and not all of those sites provide a winning opinion. That’s where Dobber Nation comes in.

2) Player rankings. These can be found everywhere, but not so much from a keeper-league perspective and ranking prospects from a fantasy standpoint is damn near impossible. That’s where Dobber Nation comes in.

3) Band-Aid Boys. Let’s call a spade a spade, shall we? If a player is on injured reserve far too frequently, then he will hurt your fantasy team. Sites are too afraid to give you a list of these guys. That’s where Dobber Nation comes in.

4) An active fantasy forum. It’s nice to ask a question to help your fantasy squad…and have it answered quickly. Dobber Nation pulls through for you again.

5) Kick-ass columnists. There are lots of writers around the Internet who know there their stuff – some more than others. The knowhow of the writers of Dobber Nation are as good or better than any of those clowns.

So I had the look of the site covered (by Hoos) and I had a successful fantasy template …but I needed to find the right leader. Someone who knows fantasy baseball as well – on second thought…come on, let’s not be silly – I should say almost as well as I know fantasy hockey.

I scoured the Internet and spoke to a lot of contacts and found a lot of good talent, but wasn’t convinced that enough dedication was there. There’s dedication…and then there’s my definition of the term. I’m talking about loving fantasy baseball so much that you could read everything you get your hands on and write about it every day – and still want more.

In the meantime, I had an American columnists giving me fantastic insight on DobberHockey.com. Not only was he well spoken, but he also knew his stuff. Furthermore, this guy was on it. His columns were longer than most and he would post them himself, format them himself and link each player he mentioned to their profile on another website. Truly a lifesaver with the time that he saved me. As the months went by, he never wavered.

It was during a casual email exchange that I discovered that Jacob Stettes (aka J Status) had an equal love for baseball. Not only that, but he worked within a minor league organization. Those emails turned into lengthy conversations and before I knew it, I had found the baseball equivalent of myself.

Status is the first editor-in-chief of DobberBaseball.com and he has worked tirelessly over the months to put this beauty together. It is clear that you will be in good hands.

He won’t accept anything less than to make DobberBaseball the best damn fantasy baseball site out there. That’s good enough for me.

The best thing I can do is keep my grimy hands off of this and let Status do his thing, so without further ado, let me welcome you to the newest member of Dobber Nation.

Now you can finally start winning your fantasy baseball leagues.
