ESPN is reporting that Javier Vazquez will be traded to Atlanta along with Boone Logan. Althought not confirmed, Jo-Jo Reyes, Brett Lillibridge and another top prospect, possibly Flowers, are said to be going to the White Sox. This may raise Vazquez's value, but I'm not seeing Atlanta as enough of a contender already again to be paying this much for a fading star. His ERA was well over 4.00, but he did strikeout 200. Those numbers should only improve.
Adam Dunn was not offered arbitration. I guess the Reds don't want to risk having to pay him even for some draft picks.
Giants are said to still be in talks with Renteria after the news last week that he had already supposedly come to an agreement with them.
Astros are bringing back Doug Brocail for one season. He will make $2.5 million with a 2.85 club option for 2010. Not exactly the free agent splash we were looking for, but we'll take it.
The White Sox offered Cabrera arbitration while Philly did not offer Burrell concerned he would choose to remain in the city of brotherly love. Would that be such a bad thing? Furcal was another notable not offered arbitration.
Percival finally had his back surgery yesterday. He is expected to return in March... possibly in time for the season, but don't hold your breath.
